Beaches on Ibiza in Winter
The sun is shining (remember we have 300 days sunshine a year), there is not a sunbed or parasol to spoil the view, the water laps gently at the shore, the birds are crying and you have the entire beach to yourself, as you stroll slowly along, soaking up the sun and replenishing those sorely-needed Vitamin D supplies - sounds like paradise...
One of our favourite winter activities is enjoying a cup of coffee, and/or a snack at one of the beach bars still open during the off season.
It certainly puts a different slant on a december day, when you can sit outside in a T-shirt, admiring the view, and topping up on that winter tan.
Just because the summer season is over doesn’t mean that a day at the beach is out of the question. The municipality of Ibiza Town is organizing activities on Talamanca beach and Figueretas beach until December every Saturday and Sunday between 10.30am and 1.30pm.
Called ‘The beach is always open’ (La playa está abierta) there is a range of activities, which include both those on land and on sea. There’s beach volleyball, handball and beach football and even a game of rugby-tag. Amongst the aquatic items you’ll find kayaking and paddle surf; there’s a hybrid one called ‘beach paddle’ too for those who want a bit of both.
It promises a great selection of things to do for sport and outdoors activity fans. It’s also a fun way to keep fit this winter for fans of sport, away from the inside confinement of the gym.
The idea is to make the beaches all-year-round places for fun and activities beyond the summer sunbathing and swimming. It also falls in line with the desire of the island Government to demonstrate that Ibiza always has something going on whatever the season.
Many families and groups of friends use the beaches on Ibiza in winter for to gather together for picnics, beach barbecues and long walks. It’s not uncommon to see mixed groups of people making use of the less crowded beaches here, all wrapped up to keep out the chills.
Make sure you check out these activities and take advantage of the milder climate to get out and enjoy the beauty of Ibiza’s golden sands as you play and relax.
