San Rafael
Sant Rafael is located at a crossroads, in the middle of the road between Ibiza and Sant Antoni. From this location you can access other Sant Mateu, St. Agnes, Buscastell or Santa Gertrudis. It is practically a village with a single street that until a decade ago it stood in the middle of the road, today transformed into highway and relocated to the suburbs. In Sant Rafel, however, persists village character "in passing". It is full of bars and restaurants frequented by both local public and tourists and foreign residents. Therefore, there are popular and luxurious establishments.
From a tourist point of view, Sant Rafael is also known for being the only island town declared "Area of Craft Interest" since it working some of the best potters of the island, who have created a school with pieces inspired Punic and achieved his fame transcends national and international level. His workshops are located on the main avenue and artisans often work with the public.
From the 25th of Juny until the 30th of September, we can enjoy the traditional handicrafts Market, ceramics and agricultural products. Every thursday, from 7p.m until 11.30 pm, in the middle of the town.
The parish church, meanwhile, is 500 meters away from the town center, in a viewpoint from the city of Ibiza and the sea is contemplated. This is another whitewashed temple visible from the road, built in the late eighteenth century.
