San Miguel cave
Take some time away from the heat of the day in the eerie, underground caverns of the Cueva Can Marca in Puerto San Miguel. Spookily silent and illuminated in strange colours, the formations of stalagmites and stalactites make a weird backdrop to a tour of the cavernous galleries.
Originally used by smugglers to store contraband, the marks they used to guide them in the dead of night can still be seen on the walls. Visitors also get to see the magnificent views out to sea from openings hewn into the cliff side.
The cave is easily found in Puerto San Miguel, just turn right as you enter the resort in a car, it's clearly marked on the road signs. Buses run from San Antonio (number 22) and Ibiza (number 25) to the cave, and a fun way to arrive is by the little tourist road train from either Portinatx or Cala San Vicente.
