5 easy walks in Ibiza for this spring
Ibiza in the spring is an attractive destination for people who love walks. The mild temperatures, sunny days and flowering countryside make the perfect conditions for lovely circular walks for all levels that are 1, 2 or 3 hours long. Most of the walks have clear signs and link spots that are of historic, cultural or natural interest, offering ideal routes for relaxed walks without steep hills. From walks along the cliffs and coves with crystal-clear waters to routes through quaint villages and remote spots, every walk is an opportunity to explore the beautiful wealth of this island.
Easy walks and routes in Ibiza
These routes are great in springtime as you can admire Ibiza’s natural and cultural splendour. You can of course take these walks any other time of the year, but in the summer, it’s best to avoid the hottest hours of the day. In May and June, don't forget to take your swimwear, as most of them start, go past or end at a cove. Put on your most comfortable footwear, enjoy the fresh air and explore Ibiza on foot!

A walk between Ses Salines and Es Cavallet
This pleasant walk is mostly along the coast. It’s 5km long and it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours (one way). The route starts at the iconic beach of Ses Salines and then goes along the coast up to Ses Portes Tower, a symbol of the Island’s defensive past. From there, you can see Formentera and a group of islets making up the Es Freus strait, where boats have to be extremely careful as they sail across it. The route then heads towards the naturist beach of Es Cavallet, where the route ends. You can take the same route back or you can follow the path that is parallel to the salt pools before crossing the pine forest that leads back to Ses Salines.
From Ibiza to Cap Martinet and s’Estanyol
This easy route starts at Ibiza’s port and is 13km long. It takes 2.5 to 3 hours. Once you leave the Marina Botafoc area behind, the route heads towards Talamanca beach. Then you walk along the entire length of the beach until the far end of its promenade. From there, the easiest is to head towards Cap Martínez avenue and follow the signs to s’Estanyol cove (you’ll find all the details are in the Ibiza Travel guide). On the way back, you can visit the church of Jesús with its Gothic altarpiece, one of the island’s heritage gems.
"Ruta del Río"
This easy 3km circular, self-guided urban walk starts from the town hall of Santa Eulària and heads towards the last stretch of the only river in the Balearic islands. Along this walk you’ll discover the must-sees of Santa Eulária and learn about them. Some of the most important visits are the Interpretation Centre of Can Planetes, the Ethnographic Museum of Ibiza and Puig de Missa. Having reached the river, the route goes along the promenade back to the starting point.
Santa Gertrudis Walk
This 6km circular route crosses the heart of the island, starting and ending at the village of Santa Gertrudis, known for its cosmopolitan vibe and charming shops. The walk lasts 1.5 hours and goes along some of the island’s river landscapes and past farmland and traditional houses. The perfect route to combine, before or after, with the famous cured ham sandwich (bocadillo de jamón) from Bar Costa, in Santa Gertrudis.
Route along Portmany bay
This lovely walk by the sea in Ibiza is 6km long each way and links Caló des Moro to Port des Torrent. It first takes you along Sant Antoni promenade (from Caló des Moro to Es Pouet beach). On the way, you get to admire the views of the bay, relax for a while at one of the coves and, in warm weather, go for a swim at Port des Torrent beach. And then have a paella or a delicious bullit de peix at the nearby Can Pujol.
