August route for people in search of peace

Our boutique hotel is on the San Antonio coast and is the perfect place to wake up in a quiet spot on the Ibiza coastline. Especially in August when the island is humming with people and it’s the height of the summer. Last year we proposed an August route aimed at people who wanted to join all the summer hustle and bustle and on this occasion we’re proposing the opposite: a route for guests who wish to steer clear (even if it’s only for a bit) of the madding crowd. The terrace at Hostal La Torre is the best place to start your quiet day in Ibiza. Here you’ll be able to enjoy our delicious breakfasts that you can adapt to your tastes. You’ll find the aromatic Meke coffee that’s toasted in Ibiza, different types of toasts –even Nutella for sweet-toothed guests–, free-range eggs in an omelette, scrambled or poached with avocado and smoked salmon; a full continental breakfast and other morning temptations, such as Greek yogurt with granola, honey and fruit; homemade pancakes with blueberries, maple syrup and mascarpone; and scrambled eggs with tofu, red peppers, onion, coriander, turmeric and artisan bread. Don’t you think it’s a fantastic way to start the day?

two beaches to listen to the waves

This August route for travellers seeking quiet has its first stop at one of these two beaches. Depending on your interests you can choose between: Cala Xarraca or Es Portitxol. The latter, a beautiful fishing cove, is only suitable for active travellers who don’t mind walking downhill and then up a steep hill and tricky path. If you like the sound of this, don’t forget to take enough drinks and food. However, if you really don’t want to work up a sweat, we suggest the first cove, Cala Xarraca, a charming inlet that has two small neighbouring coves that you can walk to from the main beach. You won't be alone, but it is one of the quietest spots in Ibiza.

lunchtime

Still in the north, we suggest you stop at Cala Xuclar, a small cove that has a relaxed and rustic beach bar that specialises in the fresh fish from the island. Don’t expect anything stylish or refined, but you will get the real beach-bar experience with quality food. Don’t forget to book a table (phone 679 67 05 59) or you’ll miss out.

BEACH OR SPA?

After a rest to let the food settle on this same cove, we have another two options for this route to the quiet spots in Ibiza: go for the last swim of the day to Cala Benirrás (avoid on Sundays if you hate crowds) and wait there for the sunset; or enjoy the spectacular water circuit Las Cascadas Suspendidas at Hacienda na Xamena hotel.

dinner

And for a day such as this, there’s nothing better than to keep away from the noise and enjoy a delicious dinner overlooking the city of Ibiza at the country hotel Casa Maca. There’s no doubt that this is the ideal way to end a fabulous day. But you could always finish it off with a drink in the gardens of Villa Mercedes, back in San Antonio.
